Just do it.

"One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:1-5)

I'm sure my parents wished they would have read this verse to be when I was younger! So many times I've asked "Why? Why? Why?" and the response I've heard has been, "Because I say so!" Haha I'm sure I've even used this line a few times while babysitting =) Goodness! Why isn't a command from an authority figure with my best interests in mind enough to cause me (dare I say "us") to obey?? But still... how many times have I questioned my parents' directions? Or my teachers'? Or God's??

I appreciate this verse because although Simon (Peter) protests a bit, he does follow his grumbling with a declaration of Christ's authority. Perhaps his attitude isn't ideal, but he still obeys. Sometimes what God prompts us to do doesn't make sense, sometimes it even seems foolish! You really want me to go encourage her? Are you sure I'm suppose to sacrifice my time or this?? Wait- you can't possibly want me to pray for them, can you?? But he does. And that's reason enough to obey.
